These weblinks are in the form of text hyper-links or hyper-linked images that once clicked on, will take the person to a merchants website. If a product is bought, the affiliate who’s hyper link brought the customer to the website is “cookied” and when a purchase is made, the affiliate marketer is credited with the sale. If the person does not buy at that time, but returns later and purchases the product, the cookie that was set previously in the customer’s browser, gives the affiliate credit for this later sale!

Commission Junction ( CJ.com ) is probably the largest physical product affiliate network. There are many, many more affiliate merchants and affiliate networks out there. Do your homework and research to find the best affiliate programs for you.
