How to Make Money Online Blogging

There are several ways to make money online blogging. First you have to have a blog focused on a topic or niche. People are constantly looking for information on things they are passionate about or wanting to learn more about. People are especially interested in money making opportunities. Think about it, how did you get here? What are the things you search for (Google)? Other people search for the same things.

What are you passionate about? What interests you? What areas are you knowledgeable in or good at? What can you share of your knowledge and experiences that may interest or help others?

It is best to blog about something you have some expertise in or are interested in. That will make it enjoyable for you and expand upon your knowledge in that subject. You don’t have to be “the expert”, just have something to offer your readers. Blogs can also be interactive with people commenting on your posts (posts are individual articles regarding a specific topic – this is a post). Review sites are popular. Just write product reviews on products you already buy and provide your opinions and critiques. Making money online with a blog is one of the easiest ways to make money on the Internet.

There are several blog platforms – WordPress, Drupal, TypePad and others (I prefer WordPress). You will need to host your blog on a web host or use a free service like Blogger, WordPress.com or others. If your blog becomes popular you will eventually want to host it yourself as that gives you total control over your blog (or website). I personally like total control, not subject my readers to ads that the “free” services will show on your site(s) – that is how they are able to offer free blogs.

I have used 5 different hosting accounts in the past and I am now down to 2. I moved my sites off of the hosting accounts I had problems with and now have the majority of my websites and blogs on my Host Gator hosting account (you can have an unlimited number of blogs and websites on one hosting account). With each site, you can have email accounts (if you wish – like info@howtomakemoneyonlines.com) tied to your domain name, ie www.howtomakemoneyonlines.com.

Here is what you need to have a professional blog:

Hosting account (I recommend Host Gator)
A domain name – like http://www.howtomakemoneyonlines.com/
Install WordPress (free – easily installed from your hosting account)
A theme (the template of how your blog looks and is formatted)
A Topic or focus for your site
A desire to learn and make it happen
An understanding of SEO – Search Engine Optimization

It may seem daunting at first but it is actually fun and exciting. You can learn all of this for free from various websites. Just “Google” what you are looking for and read, read, read. There are courses out there but I would keep it simple and gradually grow your knowledge and abilities. There are several marketers out there that you can get on their email lists or read their blogs and they share a lot of good information. One guy I have learned a lot from is Andy Williams. Like I said, you can start off with a Blogger blog completely free and get your feet wet so to speak.

How to make money with a blog:

Sell other peoples products (affiliate marketing)
Ads – like Google Adsense
CPA Offers – (cost per Action – ie Insurance quotes…)

Ads are the easiest way to make money online followed by affiliate marketing. You will recognize the big names in affiliate marketing – Amazon, Ebay, even Walmart! You get a percentage of any product sold off of your blog (from ad boxes). Information products are a huge and profitable market with commissions as high as 75%! Clickbank and Commission Junction are 2 of the biggest affiliate networks.

My most popular blog is my hobby blog with an average of 700 visitors a day! I just chronicled a year of growing hops and am now on year 2 (and my blog is number 1 on Google for the main search term (keyword) “growing hops”). I am beating out multi-million dollar companies! Talk about leveling out the playing field – you can compete with the big dogs and win!
